Jean Paul Hèvin is a high-end chocolate store, its headquarter is at Paris, and the one I went to was at Lyndhurst Terrace at Central in Hong Kong.

Initially I was searching for a place to rest after wandering around Central, while walking around I notice this store, the sign and the store wasn’t very conspicuous but it raised my attention go in to the store as my first thoughts of this store was high-end as the exterior suggested it might be. As I went in there I found my self at a chocolate and macaroons store, then the staff told me that this is a café as I talked to one of the staffs. In my mind I thought perfect, just as what I needed, a place to rest my tired feet and some food to get some energy.

I ordered a Traveller’s cake – Quinola. It had a soft cake base combined with a coat chocolate ganache. The cake was marvellous , the chocolate wasn’t too sweet it was just right as I could taste some bitterness. The chocolate starts with a bitter flavour and ends with a sweet note, the mixture of sweet and bitter were an interesting experience for my taste buds!
This is a hazelnut coffee, was it good? To be honest, it wasn’t the best coffee I had in my entire life, but is not bad. Nothing special about this drink, a bit disappointing, couldn’t taste much of the hazelnut.
I’ve decided to order two macaroons (Dark Chocolate and Pistachio) after being told by the sales girl that the macaroons in store are imported from Paris. The dark chocolate macaroon was superb, crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside, and taste-wise it wasn’t too sweet. As for the pistachio macaroon, it was absolutely amazing. Words can’t describe how much I loved the pistachio ganache!! Over all, the experience at Jean Paul Hèvin is quite good, but bloody expensive, the macaroons costed me $50 HKD, and the whole afternoon tea costed me around $200 HKD. I guess is okay splurge once in a while.
